Stanford Radiology 3DQ Laboratory is an excellent resource for medical professionals to obtain clinical training in 3DQ image post-processing and quantitative imaging methods. A variety of educational opportunities are available for Stanford medical affiliates as well as technologists, radiologists and imaging specialists from domestic and international medical imaging communities.

Stanford MDs

Radiology residents and fellows complete a 3DQ rotation as part of their training at Stanford. Participation in research projects is encouraged. Exposure to many different imaging systems and a variety of clinical protocols prepares these physicians to share this rapidly expanding industry with their future private affiliations.

Visiting Fellowships

The Department of Radiology is pleased to host two types of Visiting Fellowships in our 3D and Quantitative Imaging Laboratories. This program is unique in that we offer individualized fellowships to ensure each visitor receives one-on-one training in clinical image post- processing, or in laboratory operations and management. The 3DQ Lab supports the processing of over 1000 CT and MR examinations per month. Applications include cardiovascular, genitourinary, pancreatic/biliary, musculoskeletal, neurological, pulmonary, pediatric, and gastrointestinal imaging.

3DQ Post Processing Fellowship

Curriculum

The curriculum for this fellowship includes a wide range of post-processing techniques for CT and MR data sets. Upon completion of a Visiting 3DQ Fellowship, the participant will have an increased understanding of the following:

curved planar reformations
maximum intensity projections
volume rendering, with opacity, lighting, and color mapping
quantitative analysis before and after stent graft deployment
data segmentation and editing techniques for bone removal and improved vascular visualization
sliding thin slab volume visualization
coronary artery calcium scoring
CT and MR cardiac imaging
virtual endoscopy
output, storage, and retrieval of 3DQ images
PACS integration

Fees (2 person maximum per visit)

We have created a fee structure that can be tailored to meet your professional goals. You may schedule your visit from one to five days.

$1200 per person, 8 hours of hands-on instruction
$600 per person, 4 hours of hands-on instruction
$600 per person, 8 hours of observation
$300 per person, 4 hours of observation
$900 per person, 4 hours hands-on and 4 hours of observation.

3DQ Laboratory Operations Fellowship

Curriculum

The curriculum for this fellowship includes instruction in all aspects of 3DQ Laboratory management. Upon completion of a Visiting Fellowship, the participant will have an increased understanding of the following:

Physical laboratory setup (location, network integration, ergonomics)
Range of referral possibilities
Alternative income sources
3DQ workflow
3DQ exam protocols
Job descriptions
3DQ billing and reimbursement
3DQ reporting
3DQ database management
3DQ technologist training and learning curve
3QD Quality Assurance

By arrangement in advance, participants may additionally choose to:

Observe the acquisition of imaging data using multi-row detector CT or magnetic resonance imaging in an out patient setting
Participate in interpretation sessions with faculty
Interact with faculty, students, and post-doctoral fellows who are developing the tools to facilitate new applications, such as computer aided lesion detection and virtual colonoscopy.

Fees (4 person maximum per visit)

We have created a fee structure that can be tailored to meet your professional goals. You may schedule your one-day visit for four or eight hours. Additional days may be spent observing 3DQ Lab operations if desired.

$900 per person, 4 hours of operations instruction, 4 hours 3DQ Laboratory observation (8 hours total)
$600 per person, 4 hours of operations instruction, including some 3DQ Laboratory observation (4 hours total)
$600 per person, 8 hours of 3DQ Laboratory observation
$300 per person, 4 hours of 3DQ Laboratory observation
