Get to Know the 3D Pro: Kristy Bogart
Meet Kristy Bogart, one of the passionate and talented members of the 3DQ Lab team! Before joining the Lab, Kristy’s world revolved around being a devoted stay-at-home mom to her three children. In 1996 she decided to pursue an Associate of Science degree in Radiologic Technology at Foothill College after being inspired by several friends already working in healthcare. Graduating in 2000, Kristy then began her career as an X-ray technologist at Valley Radiology.
Over the years, Kristy explored various roles, including working as a CT tech at Silicon Valley MRI and an MRI tech at Good Samaritan Hospital. In 2010, she stumbled upon the 3DQ Lab website and noticed they had a job opening. Having visited the Lab during her studies, she was immediately drawn to the innovative and impactful work they were doing. Deciding to seize the opportunity, she joined the Lab and has since become an essential part of their team.

At present Kristy’s focus in the 3DQ Lab is on functional heart protocols, especially those related to heart valves. She plays a critical role in providing measurements and imaging for aortic, mitral, and tricuspid valves; her expertise lies in developing and maintaining protocols for the Lab’s high standard of quality. Her favorite protocol is the Epilepsy Fusion Protocol, where she combines MRI scans of the brain and CT scans showing electrodes in the brain to measure brain activity during seizures, contributing directly to treatment guidance for epilepsy patients.
Competing priorities and issues that require immediate attention are two of the largest challenges Kristy faces in the 3DQ Lab. She tackles these situations by delegating tasks when possible, prioritizing the rest, and ensuring everyone is well-informed about potential delays. Despite the challenges, the most rewarding aspect of Kristy’s job is knowing that her work has a direct impact on patient care. Physicians rely on her expertise to make crucial clinical decisions, and that sense of responsibility brings her immense fulfillment. Furthermore, the ever-evolving nature of her role keeps her engaged and excited, as it provides her with opportunities to continuously learn new skills.

To stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in her field, Kristy actively networks with other 3D technologists, attends industry conferences, and reads continuing education articles. She particularly finds LinkedIn to be a valuable resource, as it offers a vibrant community of imaging professionals sharing insightful posts and linking to relevant articles.
For those aspiring to enter the field of 3D technology and healthcare, Kristy suggests becoming familiar with sectional anatomy, gaining experience in CT and/or MR if possible, and connecting with other 3D technologists through platforms like LinkedIn. These steps will undoubtedly pave the way for a rewarding and fulfilling career in this dynamic and evolving industry.
