Case of the Month, Chest

31 year old male with a history of bicuspid aortic valve and dilated aortic root. 3D volume rendered images of the aorta demonstrate pre-operative pathology and the surgical repair. The repair was done using the Tirone-David-V Stanford modification valve sparing aortic root replacement. In this procedure, a larger proximal graft contains the re-implanted native valve, and a smaller, distal graft is implanted to replace the distal ascending aorta. The post-operative image demonstrates the result, which approximates the normal shape and function of the aortic root . Producing these images requires advanced software and skilled technologists available in our lab.
