Visiting Fellowship Program

The Stanford 3DQ Lab serves as a training resource for medical imaging professionals seeking experience in clinical 3D image post-processing, quantitative imaging, advanced visualization, and medical 3D printing. Educational opportunities are available to Stanford trainees as well as visiting imaging specialists from domestic and international institutions.

A key component of these efforts is the Visiting 3DQ Fellowship Program, which provides individualized training tailored to each participant’s educational goals. Unlike traditional group-based courses, the fellowship emphasizes one-on-one instruction in either clinical image post-processing or laboratory operations and management.

Visit our Fellowship page here.

Participants are exposed to a wide range of clinical applications and post-processing techniques used in a high-volume imaging environment. Training may include curved planar reformations, maximum intensity projections, volume rendering, segmentation, calcium scoring, cardiac imaging, virtual endoscopy, quantitative analysis, image storage workflows, and PACS integration. Educational opportunities also extend to medical 3D printing workflows, including DICOM-to-mesh conversion, model preparation, printer operation, material selection, post-processing, and hands-on fabrication activities.

Exposure to diverse clinical services helps participants understand how advanced imaging techniques are incorporated into routine patient care. By combining technical instruction with operational experience, the fellowship provides practical knowledge that can be adapted to a variety of healthcare environments while supporting collaboration across the broader medical imaging community.
