Rosewood Calcium Scoring Event
Collaborators: Stanford Health Care
Stanford Health Care was asked to provide coronary artery calcium scoring for attendees of an investment event held at the Rosewood Hotel. A mobile CT scanner was brought on site, but the scanner vendor provided only the technologist needed to acquire the scans and did not include personnel to manage image processing or workflow.
The 3DQ Lab routinely performs coronary artery calcium scoring for Stanford Health Care. This noninvasive CT exam measures calcified plaque in the coronary arteries and provides a quantitative score that can help assess cardiovascular risk. Because of the lab’s expertise, the 3DQ Lab was asked to provide both on-site and processing support for the event.
To support the event, the 3DQ Lab helped assemble a temporary workflow for patient coordination, image transfer, and calcium scoring. Two 3DQ Lab technologists were stationed on site to manage patients and transfer studies from the scanner into PACS using USB drives.. The 3DQ Lab’s data manager also configured the imaging portal so incoming studies were routed to a dedicated location separate from routine clinical work.
After the scans were processed, a Stanford radiologist interpreted the studies and issued the final reports. This project demonstrates how the 3DQ Lab was able to extend its routine clinical services to support a temporary off-site screening event.
